Happy Friday!
 
This week, we learned…
 
Reader’s Workshop:  We learned that “Readers Roll Up Their Sleeves to Solve Tricky Words.” Some of the strategies we used are check to picture to see if it makes sense, look at all the parts of the word, look for a word within a word, and don’t give up, try something.
 
Writer’s Workshop: We studied Jane Yolen’s book, Owl Moon. We looked at what was powerful and thought about why it was powerful. Then, we tried to add that into our own writing.
 
Spelling: Next week's spelling pattern are short “o”, “u”, and “e” words. The homework and spelling words are in your child’s folder. You do not have to turn in spelling homework, only math.
 
Math: We have learned the make a ten strategy. We have learned how to practice our math mountain flashcards for fact fluency. We have solved addition and subtraction word stories.
 
Social Studies: We completed some Scholastic News about friendship and rules.
